PSS 4000 - Openness and the potential for standardisation

2014-07-28

In the automation system PSS 4000, the control systems PSSuniversal PLC can now also communicate via Ethernet/IP.

With this expanded functionality, even Ethernet/IP users can now employ PSS 4000 hardware in their architectures. The function is easy to call up via the software platform PAS4000. PSSuniversal PLC can be used as a PLC control system or as a periphery system - for both safety and standard.

The control systems are configured simply using the graphics Program Editor PASmulti – the PLC programming is created via the Editors PAS STL (Structured Text) or PAS IL (Instruction List) in accordance with EN/IEC 61131-3.

Your benefits at a glance:

  • Open system: it's now also possible to connect to Ethernet/IP networks
  • Potential for standardised safety solutions – PSS 4000 hardware can be connected to a wide range of communication networks (Profibus, Profibus/Profisafe, Ethernet/IP, CANopen, EtherCat, Modbus TCP, UDP raw)
  • Reduced engineering effort due to simple handling of the communication parameter settings
  • The function is available in the software platform PAS4000; existing hardware can also perform the function following a firmware update via the Pilz homepage
